SAS Institute Pte. Ltd.
(Indonesian Representative Office)
Deputy Office Manager / Technical Coordinator / Customer Support
Analyst
May 1996 - Present
Managing office operations includes organizing clients’ contacts, invoices,
official quotations, correspondences, and other legal matter,
and report directly to Managing Director of SAS Institute regional office
(Singapore).
Actively involving in supporting marketing team to bring SAS system to
selected companies by conducting seminar on our product, presenting technically
to interested prospect customers, and adjusting our products to meet the
best customers’ requirements.
Involving in pre sales technical support to prospect customers in form
of gathering customers’ technical requirements, studying and analyzing
the suitable modules of SAS system that meet the requirements, proposing
the options of solution to the requirements, develop pilot project as our
proof of our solution concept.
Coordinating our technical support resources to accommodate the on-going,
and forthcoming projects in the tasks of scheduling the projects,
selecting the right consultants to the right task, and supervising the
consultants’ activities.
Involved in the analysis, design, and implement data extraction part of
pre-paid card monitoring (PPCM) data warehouse project at PT
Telkomsel (Telekomunikasi Selular), Indonesia, for about 5 months (Sep
97 - Jan 98). The project is to produce informative data of pre-paid
card activities (i.e., activation on the pre-paid card, refilling the card
with voucher, and usage of the card). My rule in the project is to transform
and extract available operational data into informative data which will
be consumed by exploration part of the project. As a SAS consultant, I
analyze the sources of data in format of Oracle database, binary, and ASCII-UNIX,
design the new SAS format that will be pumped to data warehouse repository
based on the required information, design process of extraction such as
time to extract (scheduling), place to store data (repository), information
and messages during process (process log), and accuracy of resulted data,
design effective client/server process, design data access throughout ODBC
link, then implement the design using SAS System installed on client/server
environment both HP-UNIX and Windows 95 platforms.
Involved in the development of Airways Information System at Malaysian
Air System (AIS-MAS). The objective is to monitor seat and ticket by informative
dimension (lag, route, time, type of aircraft, and region) that will be
used by Marketing group for future actions. My part on the project
is as a SAS consultant to combine the sources of data that reside on Mainframe
(VSAM, SAS, and DB/2) and explore graphically and interactively at OS/2
environment. The length of the project is 4 months (Aug 96 - Nov 96). Analyzing
sources data, designing sets of informative data, designing the process
of transformation and extraction, designing the effective client/server
process between Mainframe and OS/2 through EHLAPI protocol, designing GUI
front-end application, implementing the design utilize the power of SAS
system inclusive of data access power, data management power, data analysis
power, OLAP (on-line analytical process) capabilities, and Object Oriented
Programming abilities are my main tasks on the project. Consolidating and
cooperation among SAS consultants and valuable communication with the clients
are the main success key of the project.

Teaching Assistant
June 1995 - December 1995
Provided help session for undergraduate students who take ‘Computer Algorithm’
classes. The classes emphasize on analyzing algorithm, design effective
algorithm in solving a problem, implementing the algorithm into programming
languages (PASCAL, and C in this case). As a teaching assistant,
the ability to communicate and explain the course contain to the various
level of students is needed in this task.
Helped the professor to organize students’ homework and computer assignments
is one of my responsibilities. The fairness, objectiveness, being honest,
and ability to judge is a must to make this task successful.

Computer Lab. Monitor
January 1995 - December 1995
Installation, maintenance, and problem solving of both supported software
and hardware. Most software installed are art related software (such as,
PhotoShop, Fractal Design,CAD, etc.) in both Windows and Macintosh platform.
In addition imaging and printing peripherals (digitizer, scanner and plotter)
are also part of responsible hardware. The objective is to make sure that
users satisfy and convertible while they were on computer lab.. |
